A search for monochromatic light towards the Galactic Centre

چکیده
A region 140 square degrees toward the Galactic Centre was searched for monochromatic optical light, both pulses shorter than 1 sec and continuous emission. novel instrument constructed that acquires spectra of every point within 6 second, able to distinguish lasers from astrophysical sources. The system consists a modified Schmidt telescope, wedge prism over 0.28-meter aperture, fast CMOS camera with 9500 x 6300 pixels. During 2021, total 34800 exposures were obtained analyzed sources, sub-second in time. No light found. benchmark laser 10-meter aperture located 100 years away would be detected if it had power more ~60 megawatt during sec, 1000 away, 6000 MW is required. This non-detection adds previous SETI non-detections 5000 nearby stars all masses, Solar gravitational lens focal points Alpha Centauri, all-sky searches broadband pulses. These non-detections, along those pulses, constitute growing desert domain.

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame
this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...
15 صفحه اولGalaxy I . A source towards the Galactic Centre
Recent analyses of the anisotropy of cosmic rays at 10 eV (the AGASA and SUGAR data) show significant excesses from regions close to the Galactic Centre and Cygnus. Our aim is to check whether such anisotropies can be caused by single sources of charged particles. We investigate propagation of protons in two models of the Galactic regular magnetic field (with the irregular component included) a...
متن کاملDiscovery of two pulsars towards the Galactic Centre
We report the discovery of two highly dispersed pulsars in the direction of the Galactic Centre made during a survey at 3.1 GHz with the Parkes radio telescope. Both PSRs J1745−2912 and J1746−2856 have an angular separation from the Galactic Centre of less than 0.3◦ and dispersion measures in excess of 1100 cmpc, placing them in the top 10 pulsars when ranked on this value. The frequency depend...
متن کاملOGLE-II High Proper Motion Stars towards the Galactic centre
The photometry data base of the second phase of the OGLE microlensing experiment, OGLE-II, is a rich source of information about the kinematics and structure of the Galaxy. In this work we use the OGLE-II proper motion catalogue to identify candidate stars which have high proper motions. 521 stars with proper motion μ > 50 mas yr in the OGLE-II proper motion catalogue (Sumi et al. 2004) were cr...
متن کاملThe Galactic centre region
We have observed the central 45 region of the Galaxy at 620 MHz band of the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in radio continuum, and measured the polarisation properties of 64 small diameter background extragalactic sources seen through the −6< l <6, −2< b <2 region with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) and the Very Large Array (VLA). Our 620 MHz observations show that Sgr A* ...
